![]() I heard this song on the radio, a mediocre hit by a French singer which was called “Comme d’habitude.” *The title means “As Usual.” It’s about a couple in a very boring marriage, a relationship which is, “as usual.” They get up every day and “the smell of your breath, I love it…” Very graphic French song. I like the diversity and the balance of it. I was really into that scene, and I know everybody. Took my family over there, married my wife there. PAUL ANKA: I vacationed a lot in France and spent a lot of time over there. It led him, ultimately, to create this iconic song, as related in his own words: He told Anka that rock & roll made him feel irrelevant, and felt it was time to call it quits.Īnka loved Sinatra, and had deep reverence for all the great songwriters who wrote the songs Frank sang. It was the start of a new era, and Sinatra belonged very much to the previous one. Written in the incendiary year of 1968, the song reflected the paradigm shift the world was undergoing, as signalled by the evolution in pop music from the songs of Sinatra to rock & roll. He’s in the details of your life.Paul Anka also wrote the “Tonight Show” theme, used during the Johnny Carson reign, not to mention countless hits he recorded himself, from early rock & roll hits “Diana” and “Lonely Boy” in 1958 through “You’re Having My Baby” in 1974. But no song meant more to him than “My Way,” nor any singer as much as Sinatra. God is present with you in every season of your life-the great ones and the difficult ones. “God Is In This Story” is a song of hope and encouragement. He’s in your story, fighting your battles and making things new. ![]() If that is you, know that God will hold your sorrow and won’t leave you alone. The song’s bridge is my favorite part addiction, depression, disease, and broken homes are real issues people can relate to. When I came around to see what God was doing, I realized He was working things out for my good. I’ve had many dark moments and dark seasons in my life. He’s been in every moment of my story and He’s in every moment of your story. ![]() If you think that your story is too broken, I promise you that it’s not because God isn’t in it. Looking back on my life, I always thought, ‘Oh, my story is too broken, and no one is going to want to hear about that.’ But what I didn’t know is that people were seeing Jesus through my story, because God was turning the broken things into beautiful things. The original song title was “God Is In My Story,” but I changed it to “God Is In This Story.” He’s not just in my story but in all our stories.Ĭollectively, the one thing that we have in common is that we have a story to tell. The person I was talking to said I should write about that. ![]() How His hand was on everything-even when it was hard to see Him. ![]() I remember telling my story to someone and they said they loved how God was in the details. So if the storm you're walkin' through Feels like it's too much and you Wondеr if He even cares at all Well, hold on tight to what you know He promised He won't let you go Your song of healing's written in His scars God is in this story, God is in the details Even in the broken parts, He holds my heart, He never fails When I'm at my weakest, I will trust in Jesus Always in the highs and lows, the One who goes before me God is in this story If it reads like addiction, if it reads like disease He's the One who frees the prisoner, He's the healer of all things If it reads like depression, if it reads broken home He's the One who holds your sorrow, He won't leave you here alone God is in this story, God is in the details Even in the broken parts, He holds my heart, He never fails When I'm at my weakest, I will trust in Jesus Always in the highs and lows, the One who goes before me Always in the highs and lows, the One who goes before me God is in this story ( You're in this story) God is in my story ( Right here in my story) ![]()
