![]() I understand you may feel a little frustrated if you did not notice this license policy during purchases. We actually included this information on the price page (see the attached picture) and you can also click to check our license policy ( ). For example, you can update software from version 11.1.X to 11.4.X for free, but the upgrade from the major version 11 to version 12 may require an extra fee. ![]() However, you might need to pay for further upgrades to the major version. I will never buy another version from them since I already paid for a lifetime and unless they correct this soon, I could never recommend anyone buy any product from this dishonest company.Īs per your case, we checked your account and noticed that you have a perpetual plan for Wondershare Filmora, please note that the Perpetual/Lifetime License is a one-time payment that you can access the software forever for the major version you purchased and have free minor updates within this version. I have multiple documents that prove otherwise. Now they want to renege and claim it was never so. Prior to that in 2015 I bought a 1-year subscription, but the lifetime seemed like a great deal, so I bought that in 2018. Prior to version 12, I have upgraded from 8.x on. Today's website: and their customer service just sent this. When I bought in 2018 the website for Wondershare Filmora said “Free updates” and “All software updates are completely free”. Their licensing wording changed around May of 2022 since that is the first instance of the new policy seen by the Wayback machine. Will post an update if this gets sorted out however, I fear it won't. And if so, it's false advertising since I got each major release from 9 through 11 without having to pay. Yes, if you purchase an app and a new major version comes out, that's understandable, but most apps I've purchased never claimed to be "lifetime."īesides, when I purchased Filmora 9, I never read anywhere about it being just for each major release. ![]() I've never heard of this happening with any other software before. Lifetime should mean for the lifetime of the product, not for each major version. I'll be sticking with Filmora 11 if they try to force this. ![]() About the only thing I like in Filmora 12 is the new Adjustment Layer feature which is a big plus for color grading, but if you think about it, just color grade any clips you add to the timeline before cutting them and you won't have to worry about copying/pasting effects to each cut up clip. Why the sudden price hike? This is exactly the reason I switch from ScreenFlow to Filmora in the first place. Just like u/WickedImpulseTV my "lifetime" license got me Filmora 9 through 11. ![]()
